View Full Version : XP SP2 New Device Drivers?

June 14th 04, 03:45 AM
Hi. When XP SP2 comes out in retail box form in the
stores will it have update device drivers? I have my
drivers backed up but I think it would be nice just to
have Windows install them instead of installing the
drivers later, it would save alot of extra steps. I'm
hoping XP SP2 would have the Geforce 4 440MX 8x AGP 64MB
drivers, SoundMax Audio Card drivers, Intel Ethernet Card
drivers, and the Broadcom V.92 modem drivers. I'm
assuming XP SP2 will have USB 2.0 and the Intel Chipset
Ultility built in? Thanks, Craig.

Most motherboards come with the drivers
if the hardware is onboard. ie: soundmax/LAN.

You usually install them from the CD the mobo
came with after u install Windows.

Same for modems, if they came with a disk with the
drivers on it. From what I can see in the SP2 NG
SP2 may overwrite some drivers, and stop them
from working. You may or may not have to revert/roll
back to the drivers that were installed before SP2
was installed.

And Nvidia drivers usually work with Geforce cards.

MS gets the drivers from the manufacturers to put on the CD, so it depends
on if the manufacturers find it worthwhile to send their drivers to MS.
