If I record on wave file a protected dicsk. Why can't I
change the size to mp3 later? I'm not recording it.

I think it is because Media Player is not a file type converter. You should
be able to find a ton of these (*free*) on the internet. Use Google and
search for "WAV to MP3 converter"
