modem problem

Installed new HD along with XP home on existing computer,
Initially kep old Lucent modem, but failed to work to
installed new US Robotics 56K which worked fine. However
I am still being told that XP found new hardware (Lucent
modem) and that I should load software. I do not have
Lucent listed in phone and mobile options so how do I
remove it from "found new hardware" as no longer on
system??

Does the Lucent modem show up in Device Manager? If so, remove it there. If
you don't see it, reboot in safe mode, go to device manager and remove it if
it is there.
