Spyware and XP

I submitted earlier about missing or corrupt files. I
did do a virus scan online and nothing showed up.
However, I did at one time run a Spyware Nuker program
and it did turn up with spyware on my computer. I
cleaned it and things were fine for awhile. Now I have
lots of error messages including this new one:

"Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt: <windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file."

This message of course shows up after windows has already
started. Can I reinstall this file? What about the
other files it seems to be missing?

Spyware nuker is bad news. It's actually spyware itself.

Uninstall Spyware Nuker, then download, update and run Spybot Search &
Destroy from here:
