Hi
There are News Groups specific to SP2 - you might like to try those:

There's a possibility that the final release of SP2 will install over RC2,
but there's been no official announcement.

When SP2 is released the instructions should tell you if you need to
remove the beta version(s).
Not that it will do any good, nobody reads instructions anyway, anyone
ever count the requests for help here on topics that are covered in the
help files?

I went looking via your link and found microsoft.private.xpsp2.general
So I decided to add that group to my newsreader.
I use msnews.microsoft.com as my server for these groups.
But there's no microsoft.private.* groups listed at all!
Does that mean you have to use the browser based system to view it?

Hi
You need to create a new News Account in your News Reader. The server name
you have to use is:
privatenews.microsoft.com
instead of msnews.microsoft.com

If you are trying to setup the Public SP2 newsgroups, the
required information is found here.

I'm not... I'm trying to set up the *Private" newsgroups as in
privatenews.microsoft.com. They can be read from the web page but I can't
set it up in my newsreader. The instructions you're referring to point to
msnews.microsoft.com. I've checked for new groups, etc., on that server,
but don't find anything related to SP2. If there is a public newsgroup
which contains anything about SP2, then please post the name of it.

No, the link I posted is for Microsoft.Private.Xpsp2.General
which is hosted from Privatenews.Microsoft.Com & the
instructions I directed you to have nothing to do with msnews.

I guess I'm just dense. When I go there I get the following:
----------
Welcome to Windows XP SP2 Technical Preview Newsgroups
To access a newsgroup, click on the link at left.
Within the newsgroup you’ll be able to conduct a search by author or
subject. For more information see Using Newsgroups. If you prefer to view
Microsoft newsgroups with an NNTP newsreader such as Outlook Express,
please see Using an NNTP Newsreader.
------------
The groups are listed on the left. I can click on them and read them just
fine.
If I click on "Using an NNTP newsreader", it only gives instructions on
setting it up for msnews.microsoft.com, but not for
privatenews.microsoft.com.
I use XNews, but I also tried it in Outlook Express. If I set them up for
privatenews.microsoft.com, I get the error "480 Logon required"
Please be patient with me. I know you know what you're talking about, but
I haven't seen the light yet. :-)

To set up the news server in Outlook Express,
1) Create a news account with the server "privatenews.microsoft.com"
2) Once the account is created, open it's property sheet, and click on the
"Server" tab
3) Check "This server requires me to log on"
4) Next to "Account name", enter "privatenews\sp2user"
5) Next to "Password", enter "password".
6) Download the newsgroups
*** NOTE *** the information entered into the fields in 1), 4), and 5) above
is case-sensitive. Enter the fields exactly as I have typed them (without
the quotes, of course).

Thank you! That's just what I was looking for!
It gives me access to 11 SP2 related newsgroups.

OK. I'm sorry. I finally got smart enough to scroll down and I see it is
there. I hadn't realized that pane was scrollable. Thank you.

There has now been one that RC2 should install over RC1 and that MSoft
are interested in reports on the scenario. And on test it did so for
me. So it looks as if install of final over RC1 (hopefully there will be
little more change before Final) will be OK, and if it does over RC1 it
should over RC2 as well
