I am comparing the following:
Pentium 4 CPU 2.00GHz
1.20 GHz
512 MB of RAM
and
Pentium M CPU 1400MHz
585 MHz
512 MB of RAM
1.) I understand that these are different processors. Is the speed the same
though?
2.)What is the second line indicate?
Thanks.

The second like on both of those dont represent anything. If you post a
link to the computer you are looking at we can help more. but that second
line is just a number that really should not be their.

Actually, it looks like the rated speed of the processor, followed by the
speed that it's running at using speed-step.

these processors are biult for 2 different things, the
pentium 4 2ghz is a desktop chip that requires more power
to run and teh pentium m 1.4 ghz is cpu designed
especially for notebooks. If you plan to take your
notebook to work or on the road alot then go with the
pentium m, it offers a longer battery life time then the
pentium 4. also consider this, a 1.6 pentium m rivals a
3.0 gig pntium 4 according to couple of pc magazines. o a
1.4ghz is probably fasger then a 2 ghz pentium 4. I do
not know what teh second speed refers to.
