How do you disable certain programs from starting up when
Windows starts up? I knew how to do it with my old comp.
(windows 98). When I tried to do it the same way, it did
not give me the option of cancelling the program at start
up.

Hi

From Start>Run type

msconfig

then click on the Startup tab. You can uncheck those that you don't want
loading with Windows and then reboot your system. Some programs may be
initialised from with the program itself. Use the following link to clear
the disabled entries:

Line 148 - right hand side
