View Full Version : Today Is Not History!

My "History" only shows sites visited today. I've tried
setting my History for any number of days, and then
hitting Apply>Okay but still I only ever show the current
day's activity. For me, that makes History useless.
I assume I'm doing something wrong. Can someone clue me
in a to what it might be? I'd be very appreciative.

History is a record of what you HAVE done , as opposed to what you WILL do
(the future)..

Jane,
History won't reset itself to the past from a setting made today.
Tomorrow look in History and see if yesterday is listed.

Its just possible that when Jane looks at history tomorrow, she will not see
yesterdays history which is actually today's history because, despite
setting history to record for more than ten days, she is running something
without realizing that it clears yesterdays and/or today's history such that
when she checks tomorrow, it is still only today..

Try this:-
Go to Internet Explorer "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options"
Click "Advanced" tab
Scroll down to the "Security" heading and look for:-
Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed
If there is a tick next to this then IE will delete all files in your
internet cache when you close it. Thus it will ever only show "Today"
in history
Click on that line to remove the tick.

Paulie,
FYI. ;-)
Emptying the Temporary Internet Files has *nothing* to do with History.
This clears>>
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files
The Clear History button on the General page clears the History folder.
It clears>>
C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\History
Also the Days to keep pages in History.

Mike,
My first post did not take into account what Jane posted in here second
post. The fact that she *did* wait many days to find out that History
getting cleared. That first sentence sounded like, "The party of the first
part..." :-)
You may be right. That she has some utility clearing the History folder.
Something like Disk Cleaner, EasyCleaner or Empty Temp Folders can do this.
Or even right clicking the Start button | Properties | Customize button |
Clear button.
