I have a soundblaster live value ct4830 card and upon
installing windows, i no longer get sound.

I've tried downloading new drivers for the card and none
of them work. (i always get an error about it not beng
the right card...).

Creative support has done nothing to help.

That's odd. I had an SB Live Value (part number may have been ct4850), and
XP included drivers for it. It worked from the initial XP installation,
although the Microsoft drivers were limited in their settings.

I'm unsure whether it would fix your problem, but you could try getting a
complete XP-compatible installation package. Creative has not made one
available for download, but I believe that they sell a CD at a fairly modest
price.

Or, go to www.hp.com and download SP21636.exe (Compaq softpaq). The good
news is that it's a full installation package, including the applications.
The bad news is that it's over 150 MB in size, which would be impractical
unless you have a broadband connection.

The softpaq work fine with my SB Live Value. I didn't have to modify it in
any way to install it on a non-Compaq system. (I currently have an Audigy 2
installed.)

Good luck.
