A Windows Update advisory popped-up the screen of my
computer from which I downloaded Windows Media Player: 9
Series(Windows XP} and I restarted the computer as
instructed and discovered that the Windows Media Player
icon has vanished from the original icons that came with
this Compaq PC although the Media Program still shows
among the programs. Will I be able to recover the icon
and how?
An E-Mail response will be appreciated. Thanks.

Right click any shortcut for media player and select Properties.
On the Shortcut page, click the Change Icon button.
If not already selected in the "Look for icons in this file:" box, use
the browse button to locate ..\Program Files\Windows Media
Player\wmplayer.exe

There will be two icons in this file. The first one (without the sheet
of paper) is the default Media Player Icon. "Okay" your way out of the
screen and your Media Player icon should be showing the selected icon.
If not, do a quick refresh (press F5).
