unable to access second hard disk

can anyone advise how to end my predicament. i backed up
all my data on to my second hard disk (f:) which was an
ntfs system. after reformatting my (c:) drive and re
installing xp i am unable to access the (f:) drive at all.
the computer will not even format it. it is recognise on
my computer but the properties report 0 mb hard disk.
please help. many thanks
