full screen command prompt

Hi,

Using XP Home and Service Pack 1a.

Open command prompt (Start>Run>Cmd) and type Edit Edit.

MS-DOS editor starts and works Ok.

Now switch to full screen (Alt-Enter). Keyboard appears to freeze, no longer
can I type in Edit window, but can use Alt-Enter to minimize window.

Only way to close command prompt window is by killing task.

Seems will not run any command prompt program in full screen.

Any suggestions.
