Hi,
Could you tell me if webshots screen saver and wallpaper
takes up a lot of space and if it slows down your
computer?
Thank you

Wallpaper is only a background type splash screen using a single or multiple graphic such as a Bitmap file (BMP), photo. A screensaver, if installed and activated, will use very little memory and should not affect the operation of your PC. If you are goi
ng to defrag your harddrive, it is best to deactivate the screensaver.

webshots does not take up such space, but if you download hundreds of
wallpapers then it will consume space.

it doesnt slow up the pc much... the small program that runs in the taskbar
is the only thing that takes up memory.
Webshots is a nice program, I have it installed on my pc too

You mean in addition to the spyware it adds? Certainly WebShots
will slow down The PC.

The WebShots program/screensaver does have adware in it, and though you can
turn it off, you then lose the functions of that program. To use it, you
have to allow advertisements.

I can't say for sure about the newer versions (and the web site
certainly makes it sound like they've cleaned up their act -- although
I have to wonder how they make any money, if what they claim is true),
but I know it was necessary to ban older versions (@ 1997-2000) from
company computers because of the severe PC problems and network
bandwidth issues they caused. Since then, WebShots has simply been
"software-non-grata," and its installation on company computers
grounds for termination.

Greetings --

As I said in another post, I was basing my opinion on past
experiences repairing machines damaged by WebShots. If they've
cleaned up their act, that's nice.
