Can anyone recommend from experience a decent, reasonably priced capture
card for analogue video that would be ok for winxp on a uk system?
Opinions of a negative nature would also be welcome to avoid buying
something that may be cheap but rubbish.

Does it have to be a pci card? Canopus and Miglia do some excellent analogue
> digital stand alone convertors, which are very good for helping to keep
audio and video in sync.
See here for a couple of reviews on the external ones.

Canopus also do pci cards, see www.canopus.com
Cheap and excellent option if you have a digital camcorder with analogue
input, is to use it as a pass through convertor, though MM does accept it
you can use windows capture. See www.papajohn.org for more info on this.
Pinnacle now do the dazzle range, but it's more problematical than the
canopus, but cheaper.
