Very strange but all of a sudden I cannot start up Control
Panel, Network Connections, Printers and Faxes, or any of
the MY XYZ applets (e.g. My Documents, My Computer, etc.)
from the Start menu! When I click on one of these I get
the hour glass and then nothing happens. Looking at the
TYask Manager it appears that the OS thinks they are
running. I infer this from after numerous attempts I see
multiples of many processes such Explorere.EXE and others.

If I try and execute these from another location, say the
Help and Support menu, they seem to work OK.

Any ideas on what this quirky problem might be, and/or
what the fix is?

Thanks.

Chuck,

If you have Xupiter installed, remove it. If this is not the case, start
here:

EXE Fix for Windows XP - Line 12 (Restores EXE association)

Restore lnk association: (Line 12) Link File Fix for Windows XP
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedits: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

If you think it is a Start Menu restriction, we can go there as well after
you rule out the above.
