View Full Version : Sound card malfunction (SoundMAX)

After upgrading from Windows Me to Windows XP, my sound
will not play. The error message: "there is no sound card
installed or detected," with a (code 10)under the
Hardware Properties. It is a SoundMAX Integrated Audio. I
tried to delete the SoundMAX program (recommended by Win
XP support center), but it isn't there. I have also
deleted the hardware and reinstalled it several times.
Nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a conflict with Windows ME drivers and Windows XP
drivers. I would serious consider wiping C: drive and start
from a freshly formatted c: drive (back up data first).
