This could be almost anything. Just a few likely fixes:
Scan your system for virii.
Make sure your firewall is up.
Check the system tray for a little icon that looks like a
card with a green arrow above it. If its there your
problem is likely whatever device is listed there.
Right click my computer>manage>device manager. Look for
anything that is not properly installed.
Check usb and other peripheral cables for damage
(including power cables, speakers etc).
