Hi, I recently bought a Bluetooth Intellimouse for use
with my Acer Travelmate 813 running XP. My question is:
Because I have Bluetooth built-in to the notebook can I
use the mouse without the tranciever that comes with it? I
have found no reference to this in the documents.
Thanks.

I assume so yes. Not all notebooks have bluetooth built in hence the
transceiver included.

Generally the advice would be to use the MS transceiver - you may need to
disable the built-in Bluetooth to avoid conflicts.
But try both methods and judge what works best.
Hope that helps
