memory

I have this customer that has Windows XP Pro in a dual Xeon
computer with 4Gb of memory, he added 2Gb of memory. The
bios in the computer reads all the memory 6 GB, but windows
doesn't, it only reads 3.25.
Is there something we can do so windows will be able to
read all the memory?

Hello

See below WIn XP only Supports 4GB of Ram

Windows XP will recognize hard drives in excess of 2 Terabytes if
formatted
NTFS and up to 4GB RAM. Your motherboard is the limiting factor as to
how
large a drive and the amount of RAM you can actually use with Windows
XP.

Windows XP can only use 4 gb of RAM. Unless he is dual booting with
some other operating system that can use the full 6 gb he should
remove the 2 gb he added.

And with more than 3 gb of RAM you must add the /3gb switch to the
boot.ini file in order to properly use all of the RAM.
