does the floppy drive make a sound when it tries to read
the disk? if yes, a p[ossible problem could be that the
head is dirty. to determine wheather it's the drive or
something in the system try attaching an other floppy
drive(get a friend to lend you his ;-) ), if floppies are
read with the other drive than the problem is coming from
your drive.i've tried using disk cleaners with a special
fluid on my own floppy drive before but i say it's not
worth it. just buy a new floppy! floppy drives are dead
cheap nowadays
