Windows 2000 had a button in the tray/toolbar at the
bottom of the screen that allowed me to display the
Desktop with no windows overlaying it. Is there a similar
thing in XP?
Also, how can I put a button in the tray that will bring
up a program, for example, IE, with one mouse click?

Hi, Windows XP has the same buttons, it sounds like you don't have the Quick
Launch icons in your taskmenu.
To enable them, right click a blank area on your taskbar (which is at the
bottom of your screen next to your start menu), and then click on Toolbars
and then click on Quick Launch. You will then see your quick launch icons
like in Windows 2000.

Hi Jeff -
The same icon exists in XP. To get it to display right click your start bar
and select properties. Select the taskbar tab and check the 'Show Quick
Launch' checkbox. The middle icon (that looks like a switch) will minimize
all the windows on the desktop.
