hi,
my sister has a computer that i had to put a new hard drive in because the
old one was shot. but when i start it up with windows xp, after the windows
xp loading screen comes on, the screen goes totally black. i found out her
onboard graphics only has 1meg of memory for it. is there a way it start up
and run windows xp off of that? because it iwll work in safe mode, and
whenever i enable vga mode it will work. any suggestions? i need to get this
computer working for her and she doesnt really have a lot of money to spend
on it. no, i take that back....she doesnt have any money to spend on it.
please help!

On board video cards use memory from system RAM, usually 16 to 32 megs. I
think you may have a driver problem, that's why it will work in safe mode.
Did you install XP when you changed the hard drive? Check with the maker of
the motherboard to see if you have the proper XP video driver installed.
