Add Hardware cannot show list of drivers

Whenever i go into add hardward or printer wizard it does
not show andthing in the place that you would usually get
manufacturers and models.

Just comes up with the drivers for this device cannot be
found in the box. I have never had anything like this
before and am completely baffled.

All the inf files are there because if i use have disc and
point to the inf folder it comes up with the complete list.

I was not worried about this as had work around, but a
couple of programs need to use this facility automatically
which causing it to not install the drivers.

Does not show up in device manager as software driven so
cannot get around it this way.
