Hi,
My notebook is a Compaq NC8000 ( Pentium M processor 1700
MHZ with 1GB RAM) running XP Professional, Version 2002,
SP 1.
I am trying to add a printer through Control Panel ->
Printer and Faxes -> Add a printer . I get a message
saying "Operation could not be completed". I am using
administrator account. The printer is not directly
connected to my notebook, but is within the same network,
my note book is connected.
How to resolve this.
Thanks in advance.

Is the print spooler running? From the Command Prompt, type:
net start spooler
(and hit enter)
Is the printer on the network set to be shared?

I am also getting the same error message when I go to
Printers and Faxes. I am not able to add any printers
because I cannot even get to the Printers page. I am on a
Dell laptop running Win XP. Using an admin aco****. Help
is welcomed!

What is the error message you are receiving?
Is the print spooler running?
What make and model printer are you trying to install?

Error message is "Could not be completed." The message
comes up when I click on Printers and Faxes and I cannot
open the Printers window. The print spooler is running.
The printer is a Xerox N2125 on the same network.

Try a System File Check. From the Command Prompt, type:
sfc /scannow
(and hit enter)
