View Full Version : Speed - Slow the game down

This may be a ridiculous request but I actually want to slow things down.

I enjoy playing card games like Hearts on the PC. Way back in the old DOS
days when a 9 MHz 80286 processor was considered fast, one could actually
create the illusion that one was playing Hearts with other people because
the Options (Slow, Normal, and Fast) meant something. Today's P4s with 2
GHz clock speeds make it almost impossible to slow the game down enough to
enjoy playing. Within fractions of thousandths of a second after one places
a card on the playing table, the PC will cycle through the 3 virtual players
and it is my turn again to play another card.

Is there a way to slow the game down (other than selecting the game
options... "Slow" is blazing fast)?

Thanks.

I noticed this same thing and shrugged it off -- even the slow setting is way
fast. Later I happened to move the game over to my second monitor and was
surprised to see that it actually was slowed down. Apparently the difference
isn't your CPU speed, but your video acceleration speed.

As an experiment you might go into your settings and kill all video speed ups
and see what happens.
