MS Office 2000 Small Bus. WORD problems

I use Windows XP. Suddenly WORD won't open WORD Files
like: Memos.rtf or New Word Document.doc. I've had no
success with Office Updates or System Restore etc.
I recently installed ViaVoice Pro 10; perhaps this has
caused the problem? These files will still open from
Works 4.0. That's really not a good solution. Any help
would greatly appreciated.

Have you tried a Repair Installation of Office 2000 SBE?

Does WORD 2000 have the same "repair" option in the HELP
menu that Word XP/2002 has?

Maybe. Can't remember. If it isn't available there, running the Word
2000 setup again will offer to do a repair. Selecting Word in Add/Remove
Programs should bring up the same option too.
