XP Updates Freeze XP

hey, i re did my comp(wiped everything off) and every
thing was going great until i did the Microsoft XP
updates. After i installed the updates i needed 10 mins
later my comp started freezing again like all the time. I
think an update i dl'd might be messing it up. someone
please HELP ME!!!!

Given you 'wiped' the HD & assuming the install of XP completed "all =
fine"--- instead of invoking Windows Updates, you need to FIRST get XP =
Service Pack 1 !! (assuming your XP CD is a version prior to SP1)

Is this pc a name-brand, like Dell, Compaq, Gateway ?
Did you add / install any programs after the setup of Windows?
Have you tried to bootup the system into Safe Mode (press F8 Function =
key at bootup) so that you can run MSCONFIG & then lookup the list of =
your startup programs.

Are you sure that all of your hardware devices are XP-compatible?
