toolbar and desktop

Is there a way to stop xp from pulling up a minimized
window in the toolbar when I click on an icon in the
desktop?

Check to see if you have any graphics card software on your computer.
Sometimes if you have multiple output graphics, there will also be a window
managment program. If so then this software will be able to control what
happens to new windows so you could change the options to return it to
normal. I know for sure that if its a Nvidia card, the program will be
NView.
