For a long time I was using W98SE, and a friend talked me
into going to XP. And let's just say I hate XP, it is
nothing like what it is supposed to be, and I am going to
go back to 98. Is it just a matter of putting in the disk
and reinstalling, or is there more to it? Anyone who has
any info on this, I would greatly appreciate an reply to
my email,
Thank You
Nicholas

You will have to reformat your disk to reinstall 98SE.
Just curious - what don't you like about XP? I've had it six months now =
and I think it's great. Very stable, no blue screens.
BTW, Microsoft is going to end support for Windows 98/SE/ME in another 6 =
months or so.

Greetings --
If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.

Jeramy,
To go back to Windows 98SE depends on how you answered the question about
making a backup copy of the current OS. If you answered "yes" then a visit
to your add/remove programs list will provide an entry for rolling back to
Windows 98SE. If you answered "no" then, for a clean install, you will need
to format your disk.
As an option, you could partition the disk, add Windows 98SE, dual boot, and
select your OS from the menu list. This would leave everything "AS IS" and
simply add the Windows 98SE operating system.

No, you don't get the courtesy of a blue screen - the whole bloody system
just stops responding!

You can turn off the Auto restart feature and enjoy the benefits of a BSOD
if you desire. Go to System Properties->Advanced Tab->Start-up and Recovery
Section Settings button and uncheck the "Automatically restart......." box..

Many systems that run Win98 nicely are sluggish when it comes to XP. This is
true for Celeron or Duron processors with little or no cache, systems with
under 256MB RAM and systems with smaller and slower Hard Drives. So a system
that meets minimum specs is really not going to be a joy to run XP on.

Mine doesn't. Perhaps you have an older system?
