happened? Is it common?

You may have had a virus or some mix up with some key system files and
although this is not common, it can easily happen. You may want to back up
your documents and other files before running the recovery disks.

If you are a heavy downloader, you could get a cd burner and do a monthly
burn and create an archive of what you have downloaded eg. setup programs,
drivers etc., just in case this happens again in the future.

anymore. I had to take it to the shop, where they told me
it was a virus, and that it had happened to two other
people recently. I'll probably have to pay to get it back
to the way it was when I bought it. Even though my anti-
virus software (PC-cillin) updates daily, it still got
through.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to help.
