View Full Version : Removing a Program

I had originally installed American Greetings CreataCard
Platinum 7 and it ran fine at first. It then wouldn't
allow me to import photos and caused problems with
another photo program. I restored my computer back two
days in the hope that whatever went wrong would undo
itself but that didn't happen. I think tried to delete
the program so I could reinstall. When I went to the
change/delete program, I got the message "An installation
support file could not be installed. The system cannot
find the file specified." I am therefore unable to
delete the program or install over it. Has anyone
encountered this program when trying to delete a program?

HI

System Restore will not uninstall programs - it monitors certain files =
and then can restore those files back to a certain date/restore point. =
You can see which are/aren't monitored in the =
%systemroot%\system32\restore\filelist.xml file. You could try =
reinstalling the CreataCard program and then removing it via Control =
Panel>Add or Remove Programs.

I did try to reinstall the program but it said that it
already existed so refused to go further. When I tried
to delete it in the "change/remove" programs it gave me
the message about not being able to find the installation
support file. Is there something else I can do?

Thanks

Hi

There is no way to completely uninstall that program. If you deleted =
the program's folder you wouldn't eradicate the entries put into the =
Registry nor into the %systemroot%\system32 folder. You may have to =
contact the program's author for some help. My way out of these =
problems needs a manual edit of the Registry and I won't go there in =
this NG.

If you have Norton Systemworks, try their Uninstall Program. I have
succeeded once or with it when I could not remove it with Windows.

You don't. You can't move programs. You can move all the data you created
but not the application.

the JAZ while I am spending a couple days organizing the new Quicken on the
C drive, without the mistakes I have made on the old program.
