I downloaded a number of updates from MS Update, and
immediately started having trouble with my Compuserve
software: refused to load, hung up after loading, jammed
the CPU (99% usage to hung program), etc. I want to
uninstall Messenger 4.7 (one of the downloads) to see if
that's the conflict, but there's no Uninstall item in the
Messenger folder, I can't delete the folder, and Messenger
doesn't show up in the Control Panel Add/Remove listing.
How do I do it?

Messenger is suppose to be installed in the "open" mode from
the messenger home page, not downloaded. You can uninstall
messenger but i dought thats where the conflict lies.Reopen
add/remove,then select,windows components from the L.sub-menu,
uncheck the box for messenger, restart computer after closeing out.
