Hello, All

I am trying to have Windows XP do a check on my hard drive by
double-clicking on "My Computer", right clicking on "C:", selecting
"Properties", then clicking on the "Tools" tab, clicking on the "Check Now"
button, and selecting both check disk options. It schedules a check disk on
the next reboot. However, when I reboot, I get a "Cannot open volume for
direct access" error and the check disk does not start. I am not sure which
program I installed which fooled up my system, but I was wondering if
someone might know how I can fix this problem. My Windows XP Home has been
fully updated on Windows Update site. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Regards,
S. Heff

Are you using the latest update for Zone Alarm?
If so uninstall and reinstall a 4. version.
A fix is promised soon.

Thanks, Rich, that was the problem. The only other question I have now is
where can I find a 4. version of Zone Alarm? Any suggestions?

There's links on ZA's User Forums, Install, Upgrade. One of the 'gurus'
there has detailed instructions for successfully uninstalling v5 and links
to v4.5.

Have you installed Zone Alarm version 5? This problem has been
associated with that. They have a new build 043 available at the
Zonelabs site which appears to fix the problem
