Hi ... I must tell others ...DO NOT BUY ASUS MOTHERBOARDS
THEY SUCKS BIG TIME .... If you have any doubt about my
statement , try looking at some chat forum or try to see
how hard it is to get tech support from ASUS , its the
WORSE tech support ever ... ASUS don't care for home
user's ....

I have used many ASUS boards with great success. I would highly recommend
them however I have never called their tech support. I have always found the
answers to my questions in their installation manuals or on their web site.
Just my opinion.

ASUS makes *great* motherboards. You just don't know what you are doing!

They may well have bad tech support. But that is a rarity anyway.
Especially when it encounters some types of customer

I've used them for ten years and also, never had to call tech support.
One time tho they put out a batch with a bad keyboard bios chip. It
would fail within a month. Before we even discoverd the problem, our
distributor called us and said ASUS called them and essentially did a
recall ie swap all the boards we bought with the fixed version. Sure
enough, some of the customers who didn't want us to come over unless the
problem surfaced did get the problem in about a month.

The other thing I've liked about ASUS is that if you get an integrated
mobo ie sound, nic, video, etc. there was never a problem with drivers
install like you often get with other, lesser brands.

Anyway, while I'm still a fan of ASUS, I've been using A-Open
motherboards lately matched with A-Open video cards, modems and pc cases
and am really happy with that brand/mix.

One thing I like is the 4 usb ports with 2 in the front of the case. Yes
I know there are other cases/mobos with the same features.

When I got my ASUS P4P800S motherboard the drivers on the CD for the Sm Bus
and the audio were not MS certified. I installed them anyway. I then had
problems downloading critical updates and using the Help & Support feature
on my XP Pro machine. After visiting the ASUS site I downloaded the latest
drivers (which were MS certified) and my problems cleared up.

I realize my reasoning is post hoc ergo propter hoc but it works and I'm not
inclined to screw around with it anymore.

Open your P4PE mobo manual and look at page 2.5.2

Have a problem with an ASUS motherboard ?

Here is the appropriate News Group to pose a query...

Yeah I don't have outlook, so how else can I get to that link?

Via; Web based news host, Netscape Messenger or any other downloadable News client (NNTP
client).

BTW: You use Outlook Express to access News Groups, not Outlook.

I recently heard of an add-on that allowed Outlook to read newsgroups:

http://www.shorelinesoftware.com/

Personally, I don't use Outlook or Outlook Express for newsgroups but
maybe someone here knows of this or has tried it?

Download it and you'll see that you can't use certain
combinations of RAM in all three slots.

page 2.5.2 of the manual.

I find it funny that you likely downloaded the manual, took the time to look
up exactly what section I needed and then told me to go look there. I did
find it, so thanks.

I did not download the manual, You must mean Jim Macklin.

I use ASUS all the time so I have the URLs bookmarked for easy reference.

It is a PDF file and it would take me a lot of effort to
either retype or convert the PDF to a jpeg and post the
picture. You should have the mobo manual anyway, so I
gave you a link if I recall.
But the short of it is that you can have a double sided RAM
in slot 0, but only single-sided RAM in slot 1 and 2.
