View Full Version : XP SP2 Update On Two PC's?

July 14th 04, 10:30 PM
Hi. If Microsoft releases the XP SP2 update on CD for
just the $10.00 shipping and handling fee, can you put
one copy on two pc's? Or do you have to order two? Will
the XP SP2 Update CD have product activation? Thanks,
Craig.

Craig;
There is no activation with a Service Pack although it will check to
verify you have a valid Product ID.
You can install SP 2 on all your computer with one CD whether you buy
the CD or download from Microsoft and burn to CD.

Hi,
if the product key is valid/legal you can easily install on as many PCs
you wish. There is nothing to do with product activation. It's a service
pack only.

Yes, you can. The service pack does not have any limitations on the number
of computers it can be installed on. Basically, it's not a licensable
product, in that sense, since you can really only use it if you've already
got a licensed product.

You will be able to run it on every machine in sight (and please do), as
with the first service pack CD. The license is the existing one, and no
new activation should show up. The exception is systems that are
currently runnig a pirated version, where SP2 may be expected to be
more stringent even than SP1 in refusing to run at all
