....an automatic update download? There seems to be no option aborting it?
This fu**ing auto update pretended to be only a 1.9MB download and now it at
3% with 5MB?
MS must think everyone is on a unlimited internet plan? - Helloho, this is
Australia where most people are on a f**ing pair-gain line sporting about
31kbit/s and me on a 400MB/month plan..

WTF

Hi Steven,

Some updates have a huge file-size (SP1, the Roll-up pack or any other =
Cumulative Update?) and there is no point in your frustration. You may =
also visit http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp to view =
the list of updates (file size, description) and download them. You can =
turn off Automatic Updates service (if you plan to download the updates =
manually each time)

-or- Order the Windows Security Update CD: (which contains most of teh =
updates, upto Oct 2003 I think)
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/cd/order.mspx
Install the updates from the CD. Then, visit Windows Updates to download =
the remaining ones.

People that is not funny! - I cant abort that download except disconnection
the line. Once I dial in again auto update continues downloading where it
left off and I have no chance to stop it?!. I dont need SP2 Beta and never
requested to down load it. NOW, tell me how I can stop this download in
progress (right now) permanently. I need a solution right NOW!

Try ending the process via Task Manager and then change your settings via
WUP.

Turn off Autodownload at Control panel - System - Autoupdate. Set it
maybe to warn you of downloads, but to do them manually, not on
automatic. Then bring up Task Manager from a right click in the
Taskbar, find the wupdmgr.exe in Processes and End Process
