Hi - when a user on one of our PC's either swithces user or logs off the
screen goes blank. The only way to resolve this is to restart the PC,
obviously meaning any other logged on users lose their work.
The problem doesn't appear to occur on every switch or log off.
It's XP Pro, hibernate is off, and windows update is set to update at 3am.
It does have Norton Professional Firewall.. had probs with this but seems
irrelevant in this instance.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Cheers

the problem may still be due to the norton personal firewall because the
"fast user switching" service uses the remote desktop service, which is a
network service. if npf is blocking port tcp 3389, problems could result.

Ok - I did some research... port 3389 is something to do with Microsoft
Terminal Server. If I set a rule in nps to allow access to port 3389 then
surely uncle tom cobley and all could get into my system???
I'd appreciate any views.
Have to say, am pretty fed up with nps... my six year old daughter seems
forbidden to use the BBC's website and I can't see how to sort it!!
Cheers
