>-----Original Message-----
>ok ...well here is my scenario...........3
pcs........computer A has winxp pro......simple file
sharing enabled and no firewall of any type including
router which i have the firewall disabled
in ..........also node type when i ping this machine says
unknown........hmmm ok now PC 2 has windows xp
home.........no firewall of any type .....node type when i
ping this machine says HYBRID..... ok now PC 3.......pc 3
has windows xp pro .......no firewalls of any
type ........node type says.......unknown also......ok PC1
can access itself and the other 2 machines...... PC 2 can
only access itself and pc 3 ..........and pc3 can only
access itself and pc 2....... i do not run any sort of
zone alarm or norton security or anything of that
nature....... all of them are on same network names ive
doubled checked..the workgroup name is
WORKGROUP.......they each have different PC names......and
all of them have accounts with passwords........ i also
have done the following......shut down all 3
pcs.......removed file and print sharing and microsoft
client........and even uninstalled all the network cards
from each machine........and one by one i redid each pc
resetting up tcp/ip and file sharing and adding microsoft
client.......and reinstalling the network card
drivers........and i also reset the router.......changed
the cables also..........still same problem .........pc1
can access itself and the other 2 pcs.....and pc 2 and 3
can only access each other......oh and also ..........all
the pcs can ping each other successfully by name and or IP
address..............im totally stumped.........please
anyone with any ideas besides check my firewall as this is
definitely NOT the problem.............. thanks so much in
advance........... oh and guest permissions is enabled i
already checked .......... i know this will not be an easy
fix......... im actually thinking of fdiskin and starting
all over with this machine .......im at my wits end with
it.................
