I have two comps that i would like install XP (full
version from circuit city) i tried reading through the
eula but the lawyer babble gave me a headache and am more
confused since the mentioning of "workstations"

Can I use one purchased version of xp to install the OS
onto two different computers?

Read your Windows XP End-User License Agreement:

Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.

It clearly states that you may only install one (1) copy
of Windows XP on just one (1) computer.=20

Also, open XP's "Help and Support" and type: EULA
and click on "Questions and Answers about the
End User License Agreement".

Greetings --

Just as it says on the box, you can install that license on a
single computer.

As it has always been with *all* Microsoft operating systems, it's
necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and copyright laws,
if not technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on
which it is installed. The only way in which WinXP licensing differs
from that of earlier versions of Windows is that Microsoft has finally
added a copy protection and anti-theft mechanism, Product Activation,
to prevent (or at least make more difficult) the sort of multiple
installations you're asking about.

End User License Agreement (EULA) FAQ's

And, having had to deal with several lawyers under varying
circumstances, I can tell you that, comparatively speaking, the EULA
is in plain, everyday English. ;-}

The answer is exactly the same as it's been on all previous
versions of Windows--no. The rule is one copy (or one license)
for each computer.

The only thing new with Windows XP is that there's now an
enforcement mechanism.
