Have a client that has a problem with WIN XP home - it is the infamous
STOP: 0x0000007B error. I told her over the phoneto change the boot
order of her Dell system. Then told her to try to do a reapit (after
MSFT licesne agreement shows up)
Hope this is the right thing to do. I shall see
As a side question, if she has a virus (she has Mcafee on the system)
but cannot get in to her computer even in safe mode--is there a
program to check for viruses that can be run from a home made CD or
something?
I have Norton SystemWorks 2003 at home but not sure ou can create an
up to date Virus checking CD from it. You can boot from the CD to run
some Norton tasks but not basic virus checking probably due to all the
new updates appearing.
Thanks so much in advance,
Joe

If the person cannot boot-how can they try a removal tool when they do
not know what the virus is?
Just looking for some simple solution if there is one if there is a
bootable or Symantec NAV 2003 can create a bootable AV scanning
program to run off of CD or Diskette?
Thanks

Many Anti virus programs encourage you to create recovery floppies during
installation. These can be used to boot with and run a scan. Some AV
installation CDs are bootable themselves and can be used in the same way.
Another option, if one has access to another computer, is to download F-Prot
