In a same machine I've installed Win98SE and WinXP Pro, 2 hard disks (both
master) and 1 CDROM drive (secondary slave), that supports UltraDMA2.

Win98SE sees UltraDMA in all drives.
WinXP instead set UltraDMA only for hard disks. CDROM drive is set to PIO
Mode!
The WinXP setting for CDROM drive is correctly "Use DMA if available", but
it works in very slow PIO Mode.

Chipset is VIA KX133 of Asus K7V motherboard.
I upgraded CDROM drive to latest firmware.

How can I activate UltraDMA for CDROM drive in WinXP ?
Thank you very much

Do you have an 80pin cable connected to the CD-ROM?

Do not forget to also install the Hyperion 4 in 1 drivers.

I use 80 pin cable and I've installed VIA 4in1 4.49.
My drive is Multi-Word DMA 2, not UltraDMA 2 !
Is it a way to force Multi-Word DMA 2 by registry?
Thank you
