I just installed Windows XP into my computer. I had
Windows 98 first edition. When prompted whether I wanted
to overwrite the old c:\windows folder, I chose not to,
and created a new folder in which to install XP,
c:\windows\xp. How do I remove the old windows, and move
all of my old files into XP? None of my old programs are
installed.

you must reinstall all of your programs. when installing, if you would have
chosen to upgrade to xp instead of creating a new installation, then your
programs would have remained, but now the only thing you can do is reinstall
all programs. however, i recommend backing up all of your data, formatting
your hdd and performing a clean install of xp.
