My son just installed xp on his computer and got a virus
from the internet which crashed his computer. When he
reinstalled windows xp he got a message to activate
windows within so many days. When he tried to reactivate
he got a message that his copy of windows had already
been activated on another computer and could not be
activated again. How do you keep this from happening? He
never activated windows to start with.

If it came with XP already installed on it, it was preactivated by the PC
manufacturer. All he needs to do is call the Activation Toll Free number
and explain what he's done. He will be given a new activation number.
