Will this new version be easier to wrestle to the ground than my current
4.7.0041 is? And when I have finally managed to stop it from launching and
signing in automatically, will it still slow down the launch of Outlook
Express if I have my Contacts pane showing?

I do like Messenger, but I only want to use it OCCASIONALLY, and it is an
absolute pain in the ass the way it insists on launching with OE and
punishing me if I don't want it to work that way. There are a number of
websites filled with helpful workarounds to help people to deal with the
intrusive qualities of Messenger. I truly wish that Microsoft would take
this as a hint- people would not be in need of such workarounds if the
software worked the way we wanted it to in the first place. Forget about
enhancing Messenger with more emoticons and other fluff that appeals to
teenagers- just give me an OFF-button and I'll be happy.

Regards,
Ian.

MS has yet to include the emoticon that will let me show how I really feel.
