I work in CAD support.
After having the office changed over to a new network
domain. we experienced some problems when running CAD it
was slow to start and very slow when selecting outputs IE
file output to plotter wait for an age before the output
window was displayed the same sort of thing with reports
and when setting some defaults.
If the PC was disconnected from the network everything
ran fine.IT said it couldn't be anything to do with the
change of domain!
By chance we had a call from a customer experiencing the
very same problem after network alterations.
I tried the usual fixs non of which worked.
I then tried switching off different services and found
by switching off "Messenger" CAD started working back at
normal speed and carried on working when the service was
switched back on and after rebooting. The samething was
done on the customers PC again CAD started working at
normal speed.
MY question is why? What is different in switching the
service off than rebooting and why should any of it
effect software and net domain?
