View Full Version : Opening files causes floppy to be accessed

Hi,
I upgraded from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Pro SP1. Since then
if I try to open any file from Windows Explorer it causes the floppy disk
drive to be accessed first and only then does the associated application
open the file.
Is there anyway I can stop this from happening?
Thanks

One possible cause: the "Shell Hardware Detection" service is not
running.

Another: turn off Antivirus searching your A drive.

Tried all the options. The floppy still gets accessed. It even happens
if I am trying to delete files. Driving me nuts!!!!

Do you have 'fast find' installed? If so delete it. Other than that do a
find a: and investigate their locations.
