Yes. SP2 will include all of the SP1 patches.

Tom:

Possibly true for MS op system SPs, but not true for all MS SPs:

For MS Office XP:
You must install Office's SP1 before you install Office's SP2

For MS Office 2000:
You must install Office's SP1a before you install Office's SP3

For MS Office 97:
You must install Office's SP1 before you install Office's SP2

For ISA 2000:
You must install Feature Pack 1 before you install ISA's SP2

It's not SP1/SP1a - it's SR1/SR1a. Service Release, not Service Pack.

Thanks to all for answering this for me.

I think I'll just not bother continuing to download the rest of the
Windows Updates as I'm doing now over my 56.6. When SP2 comes out,
I'll just download that over the college's T1 connection and install
it when I'm good and ready..

SP2 is comprehensive and includes all parts of SP1 (including updated
versions of some). You will be able to run it direct over an original
XP. And I suggest getting the full version when that is available for
such cases, and do not rely on doing it via windows update

Bad idea. There's not telling when MS will finally declare SP2 a
success, move it out of BETA and into production. Meanwhile, as new
vulnerabilities are discovered, you won't be getting patches to plug
them.

Keep downloading those updates.

Why do you want to expose yourself to the security problems that
have been fixed by critical updates that have already been
released and others that may be released before SP2 is finally
released?

Why not download them all on the T1 now, and *also* download SP2
when it comes out?
