View Full Version : Make Messenger go away.

How do I make Messenger go away? I don't use it and I don't like things running in the tray unless I use them.
I went to "Add / Remove Windows Components" and it was removed. However when I open Outlook it is still there. It seems that it is tied to Outlook.
Thanks,
Bart

for me, Good luck.
1.
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
2.
Click Performance and Maintenance. (If you do not see
the Performance and Maintenance icon, you may be using
Classic View. You can skip to step 3 below, but you must
double-click Administrative Tools.)
3.
Click Administrative Tools.
4.
Double-click Services.
5. Double-click Messenger.
6.
In the Startup type list, choose Disabled
7.
Click Stop, and then click OK

Good advice if that service is not needed. However it is not related to the
messaging programs, Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger.
