I am a Mac user but got a Toshiba notebook recently.
Everything was working fine but suddenly I lost my
desktop. Nothing there not even the Recycle Bin. There
is a task bar and I can start the programs and still
delete files. Also, all document folders are in the C
drive. I believe the desktop ended up in the recycle
bin. How do I restore the desktop?

Also lost the task bar in MS Explorer. How do I get that
back? Your help will be greatly appreciated as I have
tried for hours.

Thank you.

Hi Emmy,

Right-click the desktop, click arrange icons by-->show desktop icons.

In Windows Explorer, click view/toolbars/standard buttons.

Thanks so much. It worked!

By the way, the window on the left where I found basics
is not working in the Mac MS Explorer. The sub title
doesn't scroll so the last subtitle visible is
MovieMaker. Can Microsoft correct that? Please forward
to the right department as I don't know where to address
this. Thank you.

Hi Emmy,

It's because you are using the web-based forum. Try a newsreader, this page
I wrote describes setting up Outlook Express (the Windows default
newsreader) for this:
