View Full Version : How do you turn off the automatic administrator screen after turning on computer ?

I just got my laptop with XP Pro. I set up 3 user accounts (Administrator,
ME, Guest). I set up PW for ME and Administrator, but when I turn off my
laptop, then restart it again the next time,... the Administrator desktop is
the first screen opening.

-I thought it was supposed to give me a welcome screen so I can pick which
user account I want to use & requires the appropriate PW. It shouldn't just
open up to the Administrator desktop 1st so anyone can have access to my
computer, right ??

- Can someone instruct me how to set up the welcome screen the proper way
asking me (or anyone else) to choose their user account and PW ??

Thanks...
-Eugene

Hi Eugene,
Try going to Start > Run and type in control userpasswords 2. On the User
Accounts window that opens is 'users must enter a username and password to
use this computer' checked? If it isn't put a tick in that box and apply the
setting, next time you start your machine you should see the welcome screen
rather than automatically logon.
